Ocean's 12

I went to the cinema today to see "Ocean's 12". I wasn't too impressed by it, which was disappointing as I really liked Ocean's 11. Unfortunately, whereas the original film was a heist movie that was clever and almost plausible, the sequel seems to fail to make sense in any meaningful way. I can understand the plot, but at the end of the film it is revealed that most of the events were absolutely pointless and there didn't seem to be any actual motivation for the characters to try to do what they did. It's almost the opposite of dumbing-down, but just as annoying, taking a serviceable plot and complicating it so that it no longer makes sense or even makes a satisfying movie. It also had the inevitable problem that with (over) a dozen characters in the film, most of them have nothing useful to do.

Despite this, it was a reasonably entertaining film, but could have been much better.
