For some reason I always seem to get a cold sometimes around May every single year. This used to particularly annoying when at school/university where I think I had a cold during exams for about six years in a row. Sometime there were also midterm exams in December or January so I'd inevitably get a cold then as well. Having finished with exams several years ago I was kind of hoping this particular tradition of getting ill about now but round about the end of May I got a cold again. Fortunately it wasn't too bad and I'm mostly feeling better now, which is good because I've just about exhausted the list of tasks at work I can legitimately do without having to think too hard about anything (which is one way in which work is better than exam time) and might actually have to do some proper work soon.

I'm also feeling well enough to make a Scrabulous move on Facebook since certain people are apparently getting impatient for their rare but now seemingly inevitable victory ;) On that note, I think Scrabulous should have recognised 'weegie' as a valid word - perhaps we should rebel against this sassenach word list and set up a version that recognises Scottish words, McScrabulous anyone?

Of course Weegie is a word! I'm all for the McScrabulous idea.

I usually get a cold as soon as spring begins, which fortunately was always right after exams; still, I certainly agree that sunshine should not come with colds.

Hope you get better soon. I'm told Hot Toddy is an excellent remedy against everything.

It wouldn't take 'dux' as a word either... that cost me about 90-odd points in a game a few months back.

I think I had a potential 7-letter bonus with some Scottish word a while back (can't remember what now).

yeah, bit of an old wives' tale that you only get colds in winter. they are much less fun in the summer though as you can't really do any of that wrapping up warm stuff.

I do know that colds can happen at any time of year and in any weather, but it still seems wrong somehow ;)

I much prefer playing O'Scrabulous.

We could combine the two... Scotland and Ireland combining dictionaries to take on dull Anglocentric word lists.

Excellent suggestion, Celtic brother :-)

Huh. Until you mentioned that you were not in school any more, I would have theorized that the stress of the exams ruined your immune system.

Now? I have no idea, unless your body is susceptible to changes in the weather from one season to another.
