Went down to London today to meet up with
snowking,
kalorlo,
dsky et al. We went to watch Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which I thought was enjoyable and a reasonably good film, it was definitely not as good as Raiders or the Last Crusade (although it was less annoying than Temple of Doom) but good enough that it didn't disgrace the series and it did genuinely feel like an Indiana Jones film. I'm not convinced they should make any more, though, I can't really see any further instalments adding anything to the series. For some reason despite all the plot absurdities it was only the bit with the fridge that really broke my suspension-of-disbelief, which seems a bit silly considering the later bits of the plot.
Random things of note:
- apparently some people think it is necessary to punch
snowking every time they see a yellow vehicle. We're still not sure why. It would probably be unwise for him to ever go to New York because of this.
- despite being the World's Most Expensive Cinema the Odeon Leicester Square cannot afford a spellchecker so their large signs talks about 'entery' into the cinema.
- While wandering around afterwards we found what was probably the world's least appealing computer game - an add-on for Microsoft Train Simulator called the Hertford Loop Experience which promises to faithfully simulate the experience of driving a simulated train through a simulated Stevenage. Only £19.99 - don't all rush at once to buy it.
