New camera

Last post I mentioned I was thinking of buying a new camera. Shortly after writing that I ordered this from Amazon and it arrived a couple of days ago. After waiting a bit for the combination of daylight and charged-up batteries I finally got to play with a bit today. I wandered along the River Cam near my house for a while taking photographs of various things, the picture quality is a bit variable, probably partly because I haven't really looked at most of the picture taking options yet, some of the pictures were excellent quality but shooting in the direction of the Sun (which was quite low, it being late in the day) lead to some of the pictures being a bit overexposed, which is probably to be expected I guess. Overall I'm quite happy with it so far, the start-up/picture taking time is a huge improvement on my old Kodak camera where it would generally take several seconds between pressing the button and taking the photograph, which lead to confusion if anyone else tried to take pictures with it when they would assume the picture had been taken move the camera to look at the LCD and end up taking a photograph of their feet. The amount of detail captured is also noticeably superior with my new 9 Megapixel camera compared to the 2 Megapixel Kodak.
