Don't seem to have posted anything here for a while, so I thought I'd write something. I've not been too busy recently, although over the last couple of weeks I did manage to do a few interesting things - I went to see the Divine Comedy play a gig in Cambridge (it was entertaining, even if I didn't know a lot of the songs, the new album sounds like it will be good), also went to the Cambridge Corn Exchange a couple of times to see Dylan Moran and Paul Merton doing stand-up comedy and improvised comedy respectively, they were both very amusing.
I decided to become a member of the Cambridge Arts Cinema, even though I don't go there all that often, but since it is £20 for a year and that gives money-off every ticket, plus two free tickets plus free screenings it is reasonable value. I've already been to one free member's screening, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", which I did see a couple of years when it was originally released, but I've not seen since. I'd forgotten just how good a movie it was. I also went to see "Brick", an unusual premise (a film-noir film set in a contemporary American High School) brilliantly executed.
I think today has probably been about the hottest day so far this year. It was very pleasant earlier, I was walking along the River and there was a nice breeze and the weather was just perfect. Unfortunately, the breeze has now gone and the weather is now just Hot. At least I'm not at work today, since hot weather is not ideal for sitting in an office all day, but it looks likes Monday will be even hotter.
Since everybody seems to be talking about it at the moment I made a vague attempt to watch the World Cup game earlier today. Apparently football is still as tedious as I remember it being.
I don't have too many plans for the next week. I'm going down to London on Tuesday to watch a band called Aberfeldy playing. I'll admit I originally noticed them for a not-particularly good reason (I used to go to school in town of Aberfeldy that the band are named after), but I did really like their first album a couple of years ago. I might go to the cinema a couple of times as well, I'll probably go and see X-Men 3 despite the generally unenthusiastic reviews and I've got another free screening to go to for "Sin City" (which I completely missed on its original cinema release, but it has got generally very positive reviews).
