Today I had to go into town to get my bank to change over my bank account from the current account I used to have to one which is almost identical to the way the original account was until earlier this month when my bank reduced the interest rate on it to 0.01% and introduced a new "high interest" account. Why they didn't just change the interest rate on the existing account and why they couldn't automatically change my account (rather than sending me a letter telling me I had to go into the bank to change the account, which took about 30 seconds once I actually got there) are things I don't entirely understand. It does seem to involve a bit of wasted effort on both my part and theirs', although I suspect the explanation may have something to do with them wanting an opportunity to urge me to consider all the other banking services they offer.

After that I went to the cinema to see No Country For Old Men. I thought it was a very good film, although I wasn't too keen on the last 20 minutes or so (I'm sure people who have seen it will know which bits I mean). While I think I understand why they chose such an anticlimatic and surprising end to the film and I see that it does fit in well with the themes of the movie, it did feel a bit dramatically unsatisfying - particularly the major event that happens "off-camera". Despite that, the rest of the film was excellent with some superb acting, good directing, sparse but memorable dialogue and one of the most effective cinematic villains I can think of.
